Association of Washington Generals (AWG): Treasurer 2014 - Present; President/Commanding General 2012 - 2013; Board Member since 2010

The Mission of the Association of Washington Generals (AWG) is to serve the citizens of the State of Washington by promoting exceptional community service, encouraging trade and economic development, and promoting positive international relations.  In 2005, under the leadership of Lt. Governor Brad Owen, the AWG was codified under state law by the Washington State Legislature.  The legislation formally established the Generals as official ambassadors of trade, tourism and goodwill for the State, and gave authorization for the AWG to use the image of the Washington flag to promote its Mission, making it the only organization to be so authorized.  Ex-officio members of the Washington Generals include governor, the lieutenant governor and the secretary of state.

Washington District Export Council (DEC): Vice Chair 2014 - Present; Chair 2008 – 2009; Member since 2000

The Washington District Export Council is part of a nationwide network of DECs that are non-profit organizations of local business leaders, appointed by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Commerce, and whose expertise of international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms.  For more than 25 years, DECs have assisted companies with their exports, thus promoting our country’s economic growth and creating new and higher paying jobs for their communities.

SBA National Advisory Council (NAC); Vice Chair 2007 – 2009; Member 2006 – 2009

The NAC of the U.S. Small Business Administration is a group of appointed volunteers who have partnered with the SBA to support its mission to maintain and strengthen the nation's economy by aiding, counseling, assisting, and protecting the interests of small businesses and by helping families and businesses recover from natural disasters.  NAC members provide expert advice, ideas and opinions on SBA programs and small business issues.  NAC members also provide an essential connection between the SBA, SBA program participants, and the small business community.

National Steering Committee United States District Export Council: Member 2006 - 2008

The National Steering Committee, together with the regional District Export Council executive committees, government leaders, and international trade experts, work with the membership to create an annual strategic plan to build consensus on important legislative issues that involves all members in mission fulfillment.

National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC): Pacific Region Chair 2004 – 2007, National Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee

Founded in 1972, the NMSDC is one of the country’s leading business organizations, and the only national organization of its kind.  Its network of 23 affiliates matches more than 12,000 certified minority-owned businesses with 1,750 corporate members, including America’s top publicly-owned, privately-owned and foreign-owned firms, hospitals, universities and other buying institutions.
